Irish Breeze is taking part in next week’s International Confederation of Midwives congress in Glasgow.

Besides the plenary session and workshops on leading developments, there will be seminars such as one organised by Johnson & Johnson on Tuesday 3 June on “Infant Skin Care: The Science, The Research, The Future”. Topics to be discussed include:

  • The rising prevalence of atopic eczema and environmental trauma to the skin and its implications for bathing babies
  • The views of women and health professionals in the baby skin care debate
  • Neonatal nurses and infant skin care
  • The importance of science-based skin research to ensure safety for babies

The Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre, with the river Clyde running alongside, is a marvellous venue for the ICM’s triennial congress.

This major international conference kicks off on Sunday 1 June with an opening ceremony featuring a Glasgow Pipe Band, dancers and singers from the Scottish Youth Theatre, the RCM Choir, Irish dancing, Scottish Opera and a Welsh choir.
