DermaH2O WaterWipes do not compete directly with ordinary baby wipes – they are very different, and a lot more expensive to make because of their purity.
A more appropriate comparison, for cost as well as function, is with cotton wool and cooled boiled water, because of their similar purity, mildness and efficacy.
Here are some cost calculations with leading high street cotton wool products:
PRODUCT |
COST (in £) |
Boots 500g Cotton Wool Roll (c. 80 large hand-sized pieces) |
£2.85 (c.4c per piece)
Boots 200g Cotton Wool Pleats (c. 40 small sections; need two at a time?) |
£1.22 (c.6c each)
Boots 60 Extra-Large Cotton Pads |
£2.54 (c.4c each)
DermaH2O WaterWipes 72’s |
£2.99 (c.4c each)
(We haven’t considered cotton balls because we think they are fairly useless at nappy-changing time!)
So, WaterWipes are comparable to the cost and cotton wool and water (ignoring the cost of boiling the water to sterilise it.) Given the expensive new technology involved in making WaterWipes, this is a surprisingly low price premium.
However- there is no comparison whatsoever in terms of convenience, ease of use and portability.
